Music Producer Development Program

A music producer has many roles, among them overseing the recording sessions, coaching and guiding the musicians, organizing and scheduling production budgets and resources, and supervising the recording, mixing and mastering processes. The music producer could be compared to the film director in that the producer's job is to create, shape and mold a piece of music in accordance with their vision for the album. The Onyx Soundlab Music Producer Development Program has been created in response to the overwhelming demand we have seen for people looking to develop a career in this realm of the music business, with no real opportunities to learn how its done.

Our program begins with an introduction to the business side of the music industry. Because the music producer's position is one of the most versatile in the industry, we cover everything from audio recording, to music theory; vocal lessons, to songwriting, with a specific focus on the hands-on actual production of music. Students will be shown and potentially given oppotunities to place or sell songs to major recording artists or companies. Very often, a production student's first job...will be through us!

~ All classes are one-on-one with a producer/engineer directly in the control room of the recording studio

~ Students will have the opportunity to take part in actual recording sessions
